All employers are required to make provision for first-aid. This does not always mean that they have to employ trained first-aiders but by doing so they will have help to comply with legislation and it may contribute to saving a life.

From 1 October 2009 new changes to the first aid training regime were introduced to give businesses and organisations greater flexibility. Course have now been shortened and streamlined offering more effect training to a higher standard.

This streamlining has enabled us to tailor courses and make them more relevant to a particular business or organisation. We have delivered to hikers, athletes, equestrian event organisers, alternative therapists, yachtsmen & care workers for example.

The EFAW training and assessment will cover the following topics:

Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
Assessment and management of first aid incidents
Management of an unconscious casualty
Management of a casualty who is not breathing normally
Management of a casualty who is choking
Management of a casualty who has a bleeding injury
Management of a casualty who is in shock

This qualification introduces candidates to:

The roles and responsibilities of a first aider
The legal requirements for first aid provision
The importance of accurate incident reporting
First aid equipment and its safe use

Suitable for

This is 12-hour course is delivered over two days. The course is designed for workers caring for children in the absence of parents. The certificate must be renewed every three years. The course covers the requirements for EYFS and Ofsted as follows;

This qualification, aimed at those who carry out manual handling at work, provides essential information about manual handling hazards and their control.

Further Information::

To give you maximum flexibility it can be delivered as a half-day programme for learners who only wish to gain the CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling. Those who need to learn about practical manual handling techniques should stay on for a further half-day training session and assessment to gain the full CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice.

Who needs this qualification?

All employees who have to carry out any manual handling activities at work, including both industrial and office workers.

Why is this training important?

Under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, employers are required to take appropriate steps to reduce the risk of injury to employees – this includes suitable training. The CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling – Principles and Practice combines both the theoretical and hands-on elements of the subject and teaches learners techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely within their individual capabilities.

Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is one of the UK’s top causes of death with over 133,000 people dying in the UK each year of the disease.

CHD can cause sudden unpredictable cardiac arrest, due to abnormal heart rhythm, to anyone, even children.

The most common abnormality in the hearts rhythm is Ventricular Fibrillation (VF). Death will occur in minutes if immediate treatment is not given.

There is only one proven treatment for VF and that is Defibrillation; the delivery of a controlled electric shock to the patient.

The development of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) has enabled defibrillators to be made available in public places like airports, railways stations and in private homes.
